About the artist, Shé

A note from Shé:

I have been a singer and songwriter all my life, performing since 2000. Some of the best years of my life! I have loved writing and performing music for children, as well as entertaining and teaching, through music. I am back performing family fun music at Farmer’s Markets around Vancouver. So pop by and say hello and if you have kids, I will teach them a cute little ditty! I cannot thank you enough, my fans, friends, and family, for all your support over the years. Keep singing!

Love and Blessings,

Shé

Throughout her career, Shé utilized her guitar skills and a voice reminiscent of Sheryl Crow to deliver fun-filled, high-energy family shows. Her performances were interactive, inviting children to dance, sing, and play along with both her original music and classic standards. Her second album, "Shimmy Shimmy with Shé," achieved critical acclaim, receiving nominations in 2006 for Outstanding Children’s Recording at the Western Canadian Music Awards and a SHAI Award.

Shé's shows were magical experiences. Starting with just a small group of children dancing at the front, the energy would quickly spread throughout the audience. A hallmark of her performances was the distribution of over 500 percussion instruments to the children, leading to a "band" where every child played a part. This inclusive, immersive experience highlighted the power of music and the infectious enthusiasm of youth, leaving a lasting impression on both children and adults alike.

Her commitment to music education was profound. Shé provided valuable resources like a 20-page Teacher's Resource and Study Guide to accompany her CDs, enhancing music education in schools. Her fan base grew through her CD sales, nearing 10,000, and her memorable performances at prestigious venues and festivals, including Vancouver's International Children’s Festival and West Vancouver's Harmony Arts Festival, among others.

Shé's shows, typically an hour in length, brought her to various venues across Canada, from preschools and elementary schools to community groups and public concerts. Her ability to draw large audiences and create a collaborative musical experience was unparalleled.

Reflecting on her career, fans remember her fondly, sharing stories of how her music touched their lives and brought joy to their children. One fan from Atlanta, Georgia, recounted the significant impact Shé's music had on their family, highlighting the emotional connection her songs created.

As she stepped back from the limelight, Shé's legacy continues through the countless memories she created and the impact of her music on children's music education. Her career is a testament to the joy and connection music can bring into the lives of children and their families.
